At Physiologix, we are a team of Medical Doctors and Surgeons specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and musculoskeletal injuries, including Edmonton's largest community-based electrodiagnostic laboratory for EMG and nerve conduction studies.
Our medical and surgical team consists of Physiatrists (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine Specialists), Neurologists, Rheumatologists, Sports Medicine Physicians, Pain Medicine, Anaesthesiology, Radiologists, Orthopedic Surgeons, Plastic Surgeons, and MSK Intake and Screening Physicians.
We are a multi-disciplinary clinic and the team works together closely to meet the individual needs of every patient. We offer generalized and highly specialized clinics - don't worry if you are not sure which specific clinic you or your patient requires: our team will sort it out once we receive your referral.
Physiologix offers many consultations, diagnostic, and treatment services. A referral is required to see our doctors. If a patient is seen by our Physical Therapists, a referral to the doctors can be made by the therapy team.

Rheumatologists
These doctors specialize in diagnosing and treating disorders of the joint, muscle, and connective tissues like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, myositis, and other inflammatory diseases.
Neurologists
These doctors are specialists in Neurology and are experts in diagnosing and treating diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerve, and muscles like multiple sclerosis (MS), stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, headaches, concussions, and many many more. Our Neurologists can perform bedside cognitive testing, lumbar punctures, and other comprehensive critical neurological testing.
Physiatrists
These doctors are specialists in Rehabilitation Medicine. In addition to the great work they do at Physiologix, our group of Physiatrists work at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, the largest dedicated rehab hospital in western Canada and consult at a whole host of specialized clinics across Edmonton including the University of Alberta Hospital Neuromuscular Clinic and ALS Clinics, the Misericordia Hospital ALS Clinic, the Western Upper Limb Facility at the Sturgeon Hospital, and the Orthopedic Clinic at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, to name a few.
Our Physiatrists can diagnose underlying brain, spinal cord, nerve, muscle, tendon, ligament and bone problems and can perform tests including nerve conduction studies and electromyography, prescribe appropriate orthoses and prostheses, and provide appropriate injection-based treatments including trigger point injections, joint injections, carpal tunnel injections, botulinum toxin injections for spasticity, platelet rich plasma (PRP), and prolotherapy, etc.
Many of these are performed under ultrasound or EMG guidance which are available at Physiologix. If it sounds like a broad specialty, it is!
Sports Medicine Physicians
These doctors have a special designation from the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM) and specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries that occur as a result of participation in sports, such as knee and shoulder injuries, ankle sprains, tendonitis, fractures and concussions.
With the help of a Sports Medicine Physician, athletes and sports participants at all levels of ability – from recreational to highly competitive and elite athletes – can avoid the common pitfalls of physical training and other sport-related medical problems in order to maximize their levels of performance.

Pain Medicine and Anaesthesiology
With experience in performing specialized injection based treatments and advising on pain management medications, these physicians can evaluate patients with pain symptoms, advise treatment, perform interventional procedures, and make medication recommendations to referring physicians.
Orthopedic & Plastic Surgeons
The surgeons at Physiologix are specialists in the upper extremity (shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand). We streamline the process for people that need upper limb surgeries for problems like carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy, trigger finger, and a variety of other upper limb issues.

Radiology
Radiologists are doctors that specialize in the interpretation of medical imaging to help diagnose, treat, and monitor diseases. At Physiologix, Radiologists use state-of-the-art equipment to acquire and interpret ultrasound and X-ray images and they also perform imaging guided interventional pain management procedures.
